Hi, I’m Simon and this is my website. I have a dream to design and build my own home. Perhaps you have the same dream. BuildFact is about achieving that dream.

About BuildFact

Here over the coming months, I plan to collect all things related to designing, building and renovating your own home. While in part this is to help me achieve my dream, hopefully it will also be useful to you, if you have a similar dream. Regardless of whether your dream is to build a home that Grand Designs would love to feature or something more modest, I’ll endeavour to make this site useful to you.

About Me

Personally I love contemporary homes, cool, light and spacious. But I’m not averse to period living. In fact often the best homes are a combination of the two with the juxtaposition of old against new enhancing both.

I’m an engineer by trade, having spent years manufacturing all sorts of things in steel, aluminium and other metals. That was followed by a few years working as a builder. Now I’m a code monkey, otherwise known as a computer programmer.

If you have anything you want to ask me, tell me about, or would like me to add to the site, please contact me.

Now as Bob the Builder might say: “Can we build it?” Well: “Yes, we can!” Although I think it’s going to take us just a little bit longer than Bob. So let’s get on with it, there’s no time like the present.

Website

This website was designed and developed by me. It uses a highly customised version of Drupal, the open source content management system created by Dries Buytaert. Drupal is written in the programming language PHP and uses the excellent MySQL database.

If you're in the market for web design and you think that I might be able to help you, then I'm sorry to say “No thank you”. However my brother James and his web design company may be able to help. If you have a serious web project and you're based in and around Stourbridge, West Midlands then give Wilkes Design a go.
